What to bring to the facility
On arrival
You will check in at the surgical facility, complete any remaining paperwork, and be taken to the pre-operative area. The nursing team will place an IV, review your medications and allergies, and prepare you for surgery. Dr. Palakodeti will visit you before the procedure to answer any final questions and confirm the surgical plan.
During surgery
Most procedures are performed under general anesthesia or monitored sedation. Procedure times vary — your care team will give you a realistic estimate during your pre-operative appointment.
In recovery
After surgery you will be monitored in the recovery area until you are awake, comfortable, and stable. Most patients are ready to go home within one to two hours of completing their procedure. If you undergo anesthesia you must have a driver — you will not be permitted to drive yourself home under any circumstances.
Same-day discharge
Most of Dr. Palakodeti's procedures are outpatient you go home the same day. Overnight stays are arranged in advance when indicated and will be communicated to you before your surgery date.
